The Story
Your Own Day on the Water
Shem Creek is Mount Pleasant’s working-and-playing waterway — a tidal creek lined with shrimp-boat docks and seafood joints, the Ravenel Bridge stitched across the sky beyond it. A rental puts the whole thing in your hands. Take any allotment of time you like, from a one-hour loop of the creek to a full day running the harbor and up the Cooper River. The boats come through a partnership with Sea Fox, in a range of sizes, and before you cast off the crew walks you through a safety briefing and a chart — where your boundaries are, where you are, and how to find your way back to the dock. It’s a place that has always made room for both the visitor down for the week and the neighbor who grew up here.
