The Outpost

It Is Coming Together

Shrimp Boat Lane · Shem Creek, Mt. Pleasant

Down on Shrimp Boat Lane, an old and familiar spot on the creek is becoming something new. Not torn down — brought back. The plan is a coastal-inspired space that pairs honest function with the easy charm of Mount Pleasant: bait and tackle, apparel and goods, food and drink, all under one roof on the water. The countdown is on. We’d rather show you than tell you, so for now we’ll just say — stay tuned.

The Story

A Spot on the Working Creek

Shem Creek has always earned its keep. The trawlers still go out and come back, the docks still smell of the day’s catch, and the marsh still does what it’s always done. The Outpost wants to belong to that — not stand apart from it. So we took a place people already knew and gave it new life: a refreshed, coastal-inspired destination meant to sit easy on the waterfront, rooted in the creek’s own heritage of shrimping and fishing. The work is being done right, in the heart of it all. We’re not in a hurry to be loud about it — we’d rather get it right and let the creek speak for the rest.

What we’re after

A Complete Experience

The idea is simple and a little old-fashioned: one place that has what you actually need for a day on the water and the days around it. Essential bait and tackle when the tide is right. Apparel and goods worth keeping. Food and drink for when the lines are in. None of it trying too hard — all of it of the place, tied to the same shrimping and fishing heritage that built this creek. If we do it right, it won’t feel new at all. It’ll feel like it was always supposed to be here.
